Cloud computing was a notion as early as the 1960s when computer networks were connecting. Its first mention was tracked down by author George Favaloro. He found a copy of a 1996 Compaq business plan that contained the first use of the term “cloud computing.” It was then more popularized as the modern concept that it is today when Eric Schmidt, then Google CEO, introduced the term at a Google Search Engine Strategies Conference on August 9, 2006.

Several tech giants, including Google, Microsoft, IBM, and Amazon, were the pioneers of the cloud computing world. Today, numerous companies spend hundreds of billions of dollars per year on cloud computing technology solutions.

In the post-COVID-19 pandemic world, there has been accelerated growth for cloud computing of all kinds to support virtual workers who traditionally worked in a local network environment powered by in-house servers. The attempts to streamline the internal server model and international business networks were significantly outdated, inefficient, and extremely costly. They were also hampered by the overly complex nature of non-cloud-based virtual desktops, software rollouts, and computing power bottlenecks.

Chief Technology Officers (CTOs) have a huge task on their plate and will have to work hand in hand with their CEOs, CFOs, and primary management teams to restructure how they do business. It is just not realistic to continue using old methods to solve new global problems.

Google recently launched the new version of their Google Drive services to replace how client data and files were backed up and accessible on the cloud. It has moved to streaming data from the cloud to minimize data storage on local hard drives. Files are only downloaded and stored on the local computer system while they are being edited and instantly stream updates to the cloud backup with each save. It’s an amazing new way to manage huge amounts of files and data and relieve bogged down and outdated local hardware that many clients are still using. It solves one small piece of the massive virtual work challenge.

Old technology, methods, and single function software cannot solve the big cloud technology challenge: Simplifying the complex nature of moving businesses and work to the cloud to leverage streaming.

The tech giants that made us aware of cloud computing have not found or implemented the solution. They are still fumbling over minor innovations to existing hardware concepts and software as a service that support tedious virtual desktops. Nothing truly innovative has been developed in the past few years that will handle the trend toward moving work to streaming from the cloud. However, Skygrid Solutions Inc. introduced an award-winning turnkey solution to the global challenge.

Cloud-only hardware subscriptions that streamline the world’s digital workforce will be the new leader of this cloud migration and the work from home modality. Businesses will be able to transition to a totally new technology platform powered by a fusion of hardware and cloud streaming services that eliminate the need for in-house server rooms and IT departments. This new hardware never needs to be upgraded, uses far less energy, and is so simple to use that any employee could set it up in minutes.

Thanks to Skygrid Solutions, the trend toward streaming work from the cloud has a simple path forward that will save money for companies as they evolve to meet the demands of the digital cloud working world.
